Get Involved

One bench, two roles.

Working the scorebench is a great way to be involved in basketball outside of coaching, playing and refereeing — while learning and appreciating more about the game. Two roles share the bench, and the WBA is recruiting for both.

Role 01

Scoretable Official

Works in partnership with referees to officiate the match and communicate the progress of the game. It's a hands-on role that keeps you right in the middle of the action.

  • Accreditation Levels 1–5
  • Nationally recognised
  • Pathway to FIBA international events
Role 02

Statistician

Uses a love of basketball and data to track every play courtside. No duties outside the actual game, no equipment to provide — just show up, do the job, and enjoy the action.

  • Accreditation Levels 1–2
  • Recognised across Australia
  • Age 14+ · basic basketball knowledge
Why Get Involved

More than keeping score.

It's fun

You meet lots of people with similar interests and become part of the game-day community at every match you work.

Earn money

Both roles offer paid opportunities as you progress — including positions on the WBA's Big V Program roster.

Best seat in the stadium

Some games call for volunteers — which comes with the best seat in the house, sitting courtside for every play.
