Built for domestic players ready for the next step.

built for

Domestic competition players (junior club basketball) aged U10–U16 who want to develop the skills needed for representative basketball.

not for

Players currently in the Country Representative Program (Squad) or VJBL teams.

This is your pathway TO representative basketball — not a program for those already in it.

the program

Built to develop the next Warriors.

Future Warriors Academy returns for Term 3 with a fresh format. Players from U10 to U16 are grouped into two age blocks and train side by side, learning the offensive and defensive concepts behind the Warriors Style of Play. It's competitive, high-energy, and built to get domestic players ready for the representative pathway.

two age blocks

Players are grouped by age so coaching is matched to development stage. Divisions are set by birth year against the 2026 season — boys and girls train together within each block.

good to know

Questions, answered.

01 Who is this program for?

Future Warriors Academy is designed for domestic competition players aged U10–U16 who want to sharpen their skills and develop their understanding of representative-level basketball. It's not suitable for complete beginners or players currently in Squad or VJBL programs.

02 Can my child join if they're in Squad or VJBL?

No — this program is specifically for domestic players. It's designed to help players develop the skills needed to make Squad or VJBL teams in the future.

03 Are boys and girls in the same sessions?

Yes. Players train together within their age block — blocks are set by age, not gender, and coaching is matched to each block's development stage.

04 How are the age blocks decided?

Blocks are set by birth year against the 2026 season. The Younger Block (4:30–5:30pm) covers U10 (born 2017–2018) and U12 (born 2015–2016). The Older Block (5:30–6:30pm) covers U14 (born 2013–2014) and U16 (born 2011–2012).

05 What time is my child's session?

The Younger Block (U10–U12) trains 4:30–5:30pm and the Older Block (U14–U16) trains 5:30–6:30pm, every Wednesday at Warragul Leisure Centre.

06 Who will be coaching?

Each block is led by an experienced lead coach supported by assistants on court. Our lead coaches are Breyton Buysman (Warragul Warriors Big V import, USA elite training experience) and Sophie Taylor (Warragul local, Australian representative, NBL1 contracted player with Dandenong Rangers).

07 What if I miss a session?

We understand conflicts happen. Unfortunately we can't offer make-up sessions or refunds for missed sessions.

08 Do I need to buy a uniform?

New participants must purchase the reversible training jersey (a one-off $55). This lets us run proper scrimmages during sessions. Returning participants can reuse their existing jersey.

09 Can I register if the program is full?

Places are limited to 40 (20 per block). If a block reaches capacity we'll open a waitlist and let you know if a spot becomes available.

10 What should my child bring?

Basketball shoes, a water bottle, and a positive attitude. Reversible jerseys are distributed after registration.
